SXSW scene: Want to get into Vampire Weekend showcase?
You better have a wristband or a badge. At 7:20 p.m., the line at Antone’s, where the buzz band is scheduled to play at 11 p.m., was about a third of the way down Lavaca Street.
And they’re already saying “badges and wristbands only.” If you get in, don’t leave.
Bear in Heaven, Basia Bulat and Foreign Born are scheduled to play before VW. DeVotchKa and the Constantines follow.

I don’t think any non wristbands got in. We had a wristband and got there at 8:45 and were in by 9. The first people in the nothing line started to peel away around then as there was a badge line forming (they were taking about 5 badges for every wristband). Vampire Weekend’s set was solid but not spectacular—sounded a lot like their album. We enjoyed Foreign Born more.

Glad to hear you got in, Carter. I had a badge and knew better than to even try. Staying at one venue all night just to see one act is rarely worth it, but I unfortunately still haven’t seen VW for myself.
