Guitar Hero at SXSW
The wildly-popular Guitar Hero III video game will have a big presence at South By this year, but not in a sanctioned capacity. GH has hooked up with Texas Rockfest (formerly Heart Of Texas Quadbypass Fest) to sponsor the outdoor stage in a parking lot at 7th and Trinity. Randy Eckhardt, the former UT graduate who procures the music for the virtual guitar game, which registered a whopping $820 million in sales in 2007, says Guitar Hero will have multple kiosks for competitons, with prizes for the best players, including a custom GH guitar from Gibson. It’s all free.
Eckhardt is working on bringing in a band or two from the game. Slash from G’N’R was the special guest last year.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the title should read Guitar Hero at Texas Rockfest!!!!

No one cares about Texas Rockfest, the barnacle that attaches itself to SXSW and offers nothing in return.

Nothing in return? How about a 3 day interactive event with 150 bands outdoors and FREE. No Wristbands,Badges,or Hassle.
