KOOP fire suspect arrested
The Austin Fire Department’s Arson Investigations section announced today that it has arrested 24-year-old Paul Webster Feinstein on a second-degree felony arson charge in connection with the Jan. 5 fire at the KOOP radio station (3823 Airport Blvd., Suite B.).
Feinstein was a KOOP volunteer who confessed to the crime. If found guilty, he could face two to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
KOOP President Andrew Dickens expressed shock at the news. “I’m pretty upset about it,” he said. “This kind of has everyone in a little bit of disbelief.” Dicken added that Feinstein was a former volunteer who left the station in December, but he knew of no major conflicts Feinstein had with other staffers.
A press release from KOOP is forthcoming.
