KOOP offers reward for information on fire
The Texas State Arson Hotline is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the recent fire at KOOP’s facility.
The hotline can be reached 24x7 at 1-877-4FIRE45 (1-877-434-7345).
The Austin Fire Department announced Tuesday that it has determined the fire KOOP suffered the weekend of Jan. 5th was set intentionally.
The two fires that took KOOP off the air in 2006 were both determined to be accidental.
The Jan. 6, 2006 fire started in an apartment below KOOP. The cause was determined to be smoking materials used by the apartment’s tenant.
The Feb. 4, 2006 fire started at Club Taste in an adjacent building. The cause was determined to be a malfunction with Club Taste’s heating and air conditioning system.

Hey, Joe, thanks for clearing up the confusion about where the earlier fires began. I have heard so many ill-informed people blaming KOOP for this fire! I don’t know who is to blame, but I just can’t see people (many of whom I know and respect) volunteering hours and hours of their time just to go and torch the place. Think, people! And help rebuild KOOP! (Donate at KOOP.org)
