No more Dixie Chicks?
That’s what the National Enquirer is reporting here.
Not true, says Chicks longtime tour publicist and friend Kathy Best. “I just saw them at a baby shower a month ago,” Best says, “and everything was fine.” Also, the Chicks sent out a joint Christmas card. Asked if it was true, as the Enquirer reported, that Emily Robison has split with husband Charlie and plans to raise their three children as a single mother, Best said, “I don’t know anything about all that.”

Are these three even relevant? Why would a solid, well-trusted journalistic icon like the NE spend its time and energy printing something like this if it were not true? Clearly, it must be true because someone at the icon of entertainment news has deemed it so.

Does anyone even really care? The sister are the ones with all the talent and are better off without the “loud mouth” anyway.

Jeff & David- You two must care at least a little. You both took the time to read the article and leave comments. Closet fans, I guess.

Loud Mouth?
Just because she pointed out the obvious about W does not make her a loud mouth.

I love the Dixie Chicks style and the only reason Natalie was blasted is because she’s a woman. Numerous male celebrities dissed Bush on a national or international stage and no one boycotted their cds/movies.

Face it … the Dixie Chicks have way too much brains, class, and musical brawn for the redneck market, which in truth prefers it’s female stars to be buxom blond sex toys. Move up girls, there’s better neighborhoods.

Natalie Maines is the Micheal Moore of the music industry. She’s an uneducated little pea-brain… any bad news that comes thier way is allright with me.

I love reading silly conservatives bad-mouthing Natalie Maines. HINT: When resorting to name-calling is the best you can do, you really need to reconsider the fact that she might have actually had a point.

Yes, I agree that she had a point to say. The problem is that she is part of a band (team) and she should have checked with the team before she opened her mouth. I also beleive that if you are in music, play music, if you are in politics, then rant and rave. Get the hint? I won’t miss them.

Finally, the Austin American Statesman is relying on the National Enquirer for news. You think that will win any awards or add to your integrity??? This is such a piece of crap article from an embarrassing source. Your paper should be ashamed and apologize. I am a gambler and damned proud of it. Would any of you negative, jealous fools like to bet that the Dixie Chicks will not have another million selling record??? Put your money where you mouth is. Put up or shut up. From some of the remarks, I deduce that if one is in the entertainment industry, they have neither the right of free speech, not any political abilities. That does explain Arnold, Ronald, Fred and Charlton.

Dixie Chics winning the grammy gave proof of their talent. Their smarts are just extra icing on the cake. Free Speach is as American as it gets and Natalie just voiced what alot of people were thinking about W! and her band agreed wholeheartedly! Chics Rule!

“if you are in music, play music, if you are in politics, then rant and rave.” Another Laura Ingraham fan, no doubt. So, Steve, who determines whom gets to speak out in America? You wrote that only politicians have that right. Please support your argument or go back to getting all of your information from Fox or Rush or Laura.

Yo, Steve, maybe you should have watched the movie Shut Up and Sing before making such a comment. As evidenced by watching the movie, the “team” all supported her and her remarks. If you are in the music industry, play music, sure but if your are an American, support free speech regardless of profession! I don’t remember seeing a clause under free speech limiting topics based on career. Get the hint?

And what is it you do for a living, Steve? Do you check with your employer or co-workers when you want to express your opinions? Seems that a lot of the country is a bit tired of W at this point.

Which of course is all Natalie Maines could do — name calling and dissing country music fans. What was her point again?

I thought that the comment she made was wrong. Not because I disagreed with the sentiment, but W. is NOT from Texas. He was born a rich playboy from Connecticut.

Lloyd you are my hero! What a great line. I hope there is more from the Chics. I loved em before Nat and even more after. “Top Of The World” is one of the best songs ever. May the ignorant posters live the nightmare and remember in silence the poignant words of that Nancy Griffith classic.

Anyone who hates the Chicks can STFU. Granted, everyone has opinions, but I mean really!
My main concern is for Emily and her kids, if this divorce thing is true. No one deserves it. And how sad for the entire family.
