Will there be a ‘Big Lebowski 2’?

When asked about her upcoming projects, she told Hollywood.tv that she had a movie coming out called “The Fields” and “The Irishman.” After that ho-hum news, she said, “we’ll be doing ‘American Pie 4’ this year and ‘The Big Lebowski 2’ this year.” (She also said something about getting the whole gang back together 10 years later, but since neither movie was released in 2000 or 2001, it’s hard to know what she was talking about exactly.)
In the words of Mark Ruffalo in “The Kids Are All Right,” “Shut the front door.”
Could it be? One of the greatest comedies of all time is getting a sequel?
I spoke with Joel and Ethan Coen today (look for that story closer to Oscar time) and mentioned Reid’s comments.
Ethan responded with a chuckle, saying, “I’m glad she’s working on it.”
When I asked if they actually had something in the works, Ethan said, “Well, we don’t but we’ll watch it when it comes out.” To which Joel quickly added, “Especially if Tara’s in it.”
So, apparently Tara Reid is not the most reliable person in the world. Who knew? Well, we’ll always have ”American Pie 4.”
Apparently, Tara Reid’s people have tried to clarify the misstep, as well. A spokesperson for Reid told Entertainment Weekly, “She heard Jeff Bridges say that he wanted to make ‘Big Lebowski 2’ and have all the original cast members in it, so she may have misspoke, thinking that included her based on what Jeff said.”
I guess that clears that up.
(If you want to relive the greatness that is “The Big Lebowski,” you can watch some clips on Hulu.com.)

This is a mean-spirited article about someone the author doesn’t know, written by people who are passing judgment on someone who is actually a good actor and has the same rights to kindness as everyone else. She was probably joking or may have been taken out of context. What does this do but perpetuate the kind of nastiness and gossip that most assuredly tortured the writer (as happened to many artists) in high school, and is currently being assumed as the new modus operandi of the media culture. Shameful. Unless you are completely immune to any sort of karmic reality, you may find yourself at the butt of cruel jokes or the center of something you had nothing to do with, as the culprit in some he said she said crap. This just feeds negativity and judgment and is NOT news, it’s pandering to the lowest denominator of those who feel that picking on someone else, as some will surely do in response to this post, lifts them out of misery. I hope she doesn’t read this article, but if she does I hope she sees this comment.

A very mediocre comedy. I’m glad there’s no sequel.

Is it safe to assume there was a Big Lebowski 1 made? Why would some Hollywood type make a Big Lebowski 1 if they were not going to make a Big Lebowski 2? Tara Reid is hot, hot, hot: for a middle aged chick.

Tara Reid is hardly an A-List actress. I could care less if she was in another movie.
While we are on the subject, I did not think “The Big Lebowski” was that funny. Seriously. John Goodman dropping the F-Bomb ever few seconds ruined it for me. The idea of Bridges being “The Dude” is kinda cool, but everything else? I did not get what was so great about this movie. I love comedies! They, along with horror, are my favorite movie genres. Still, TBL did not do a thing for me. I must have missed something.

Wow!
You and Will Leitch should both win awards for using your writing to mock someone who made a mistake, and attempt to make them appear unstable and unreliable. I hope this kind of thing helps your career! Kudos to the Coens, also, for chuckling and making fun of a young woman who is probably in tears over your unkind comments. Way to go!
This is cyber-bullying and people have committed suicide over this kind of humiliating and malicious gossip. Maybe if that happens, you can make fun of that, too.

I’d only care to see Tara Reid in “The Big Lebowski 2” (I doubt the Cohens would accatch their names to a sequel) if Tara Reid has a line and say’s “I’ll suck you C*&%@!$ for $1,000.00 dollars.” Other than that,I don’t care to see her in any film, mainstream or Adult.

Why is anyone repoting on this? Why did yahoo feature the story? You just come off as petty mornonic mud rakers. WHO CARES what delusional Tara Reid says. Mocking the nonsenses of a washed up actress in some pathetic, bitter way is just embarrassing. Get a life. I don’t care about Reid but it is just pathetic… like some starving shark who smells the blood of a weak animal in the water. Ger a real job “dude”

Wow!
How cool is it that you can ridicule Tara Reid for what seems like an honest mistake all over the internet? You and Will Leitch are pretty cool guys for this. Ms. Reid is probably humiliated, embarrassed and in tears this weekend thanks to the two of you. You actually think this is funny. This kind of thing has caused suicides among young people, but you don’t care about that kind of thing, as long as you can make fun of someone. Pretty impressive. You should call your columns ‘Cyber Bully.’

Not sure where all the “cyber-bullying” comments came from, as this seems like a much less-than-malicious report of a starlet’s mistake, but the Coens’ reaction is priceless. Perhaps their quick wit is why the story was published, rather than to make fun of Tara Reid (who I am pretty sure is not exactly emotionally distraught over this story).
Besides, the Big Lebowski is an excellent movie and any news pertaining to it is welcome in my book.
