Mother Egan’s throwing a Wednesday wake
A proper Irish wake is being thrown today to celebrate the life of Mother Egan’s Irish Pub. The West Sixth Street stalwart that has always been a perfect place for watching soccer matches and tipping pints is shuttering its doors today. The pub that was opened in 2000 eventually had its hand forced by rising rents in the West End, according to publicist Nicolia L. Wiles. Brothers Brad and Chad Womack and their partner Jason Carrier will open a new bar in the location, their undisclosed concept competing with their own nearby Molotov.
Mourners at Mother Egan’s today will be treated to free food (while it lasts) and $4 pints, and Bri Bagwell takes the stage at 8 p.m.. According to Wiles, Egan’s owners Will and Ward Luedecke hope to open another pub or a sports bar early next year, likely on the east side.

I remember this “pub”. Ordered a pint of bitter there last year and the person behind the counter had no idea what I was talking about. End of visit.

Mother Egans was opened in 2000 by Mic Morris and Jon O’ Brien. Not Will and Ward. The Brothers Luedecke did a great job of keeping it going though. I wish that I could have been there for it’s final night. I have made a lot of memories in that pub and have made countless friends there. I wil miss it dearly.
