The M.O.
Born in Austin, Matthew left soon thereafter and finally made it back after years of paying his penance wandering the earth. Before coming to Austin360, Matthew co-edited Austinist.com, worked as an advertising copywriter and led tours of the Roman Forum, among other things.
When not busy pounding away on his keyboard, he can be found at book readings, concerts, gelaterias, pizza joints, Barton Springs, movie theaters, the golf course, or home with a book. The M.O. gives readers a little insight into the world of this man without a plan.

While some of my friends complain that Hog Island Deli’s bread is brick hard and inedible, I have had pretty decent experiences with the place, even if they do stuff their meat in the sandwich instead of layering it. Today I got their Philly cheesesteak and have to say it is the best cheesesteak I’ve had in Austin. So there.

You need to try the cheesesteak @ Jo’s on 2nd St…it blows Hog Island Deli away and you can actually consume it without cutting your lips in the process!

Oh man, I completely agree Hog Island is the best in town. Hands down. But I’m from Texas. I’ve talked to a few yankees who don’t agree. Maybe it’s the best Texas Cheesesteak.
