Your A-List: Best Radio Morning Show
In the battle for radio morning show supremacy, it was a two-horse race in the Your A-List poll, with winners the ‘Dudley & Bob Morning Show’ beating out reigning champ Bobby Bones and his crew.
The ‘Dudley & Bob Morning Show’ on KLBJ-FM took home 52 percent of the vote, thanks to a devoted fan base that tunes in each morning to hear Austin’s take on comedy shock jocks. Call it a Howard Stern starter kit.
The dynamic of the show generally has Dale Dudley, the native Texan who has been on Austin’s air for 20 years, playing the absurd self-deprecating wise-cracker with Bob Fonseca, his radio partner of 16 years, acting as his straight man, or as much a straight man as you can expect to find on FM morning radio, a format designed to wake people up with some laughter and head shaking. The addition funnyman and Austin High grad Charlie Hodge in recent years has also been a welcome addition to the show’s format.
In addition to their schtick, the show also does its part for the local scene by highlighting local musicians. Additionally, the show features interview segments with touring comedians, which seem to be a hit with the listenership.

* Kudos to morning show ‘Orange Juice and Biscuits,’ which was able to garner enough write-in votes to land the Texas State University-based show in the top 10, ahead of several Austin stations owned by corporate giants.

How did Matthew Odam get this job writing reviews? His article makes it clear he knows nothing of the KLBJ morning show and his writing skills are akin to most high school sophomores. Dale has been on the air for 20 years and you call the show a Howard Stern starter kit? This show is for the grownups who are tired of Fartman Stern and Bobby Bones’ hobbies. Research your topic and have someone edit your material before you post it to Austin 360.

Obviously NPR in the morning is too hoity toity for the Austin redneck class clowns. Pity that, they might learn something instead of sleep walking through traffic.

M.O.(really) you need to go back to wandering the earth, and get a little or a lot more insight on what life is really about. There is nothing Howard Sternish about the Dudley and Bob show, and no one is playing anything. They show up and give you an insight to life in austin as the majority of us see it. Not a show from the cookie cutter floor of hollywood, or from someone with their head stuck between the pages of a book. You don’t have to read about everthing try livin, just like Dale, Bob, Charlie and Angela do everyday. Congrats fellas and hope to hear some great Alaskan adventure stories.

If only people took their politics as serious as they take their morning radio shows. Jesus.
And for Rocky (really?), you lose all privilege to make fun of anyone else’s name when you call yourself Rocky. Really.

Been listening to D&B for 19 years.. Nothing Howard Stern-ish about them other than Dale’s voice sounding ‘a bit like…’ him. They’re raw and crunchy and totally uncooth but that’s why they’re fun!! :)
MWAH guys.

Dudley and Bob are good if you are into boorish, sophmoric humor and lame attempts at social commentary.
