Vince’s injury clears way for Simms in Tennessee
How’s this for an orange-tinged twist in the Vince Young saga in Tennessee? Fellow former Longhorn quarterback Chris Simms agreed to terms tonight with the Titans to be an emergency option while Young is injured.
An MRI showed that Young suffered an MCL sprain in his knee on Sunday. Young will be out for an unknown time period, and backup Kerry Collins will start this week for the Titans.
Needing someone to back up Collins, the Titans turned to Simms, whose tenure in Tampa Bay ended with injury and then insult.
Simms’ last season at Texas was 2002, when Young was redshirting and learning the ropes.
Here’s Kirk and Ced’s latest video, on Vince’s situation:

The Titan fans are ripping Vince Young 24/7 on the internet message boards. There isn't much "loyalty" there.

Simms isn't going to have a chance to play unless Kerry Collins gets hurt. They only signed him because of Young's injury/off the field stuff. If Collins plays well these next couple games, Young may not even get his starting job back.

You are kidding me right? Another multi-million dollar, spoiled weakling is complaining how tough pro football is. Vince's Mom needs to send him up to Fort Hood, Texas where he can see men and women who are real leaders. In the past, I compared Vince Young to Kordell Stewart, but now I think that comparison is unfair to Kordell Stewart.

Lived in Austin and moved to Nashville about 3 years ago when VY came. Titan fans are super loyal! But Vy can't make it in the NFL cause ya can't run cause the Defenses are bigger and fast and a running QB wouldn't last. He can't read defenses. Got booed and didn't want to play anymore. This is the NFL Dog!

Will always be a VY fan for life -- but truth is he has a long road to regain trust and respect after his mom has to talk for him. "All that matters is trying to get him happy?" (paraphrase)... Wow... right now he's being looked at as the ultimate Momma's boy --- It's obvious his swagger is gone and confidence is shattered trying to figure out NFL defenses ... but at least, pull it down and take off a few times a game. Titan fans will ride out your learning curve if you're giving them thrills like your Rookie year.

I've never understood why Simms didn't get the kid-glove treatment from the Austin media like every other Longhorn does. He was a solid college football player who got passed over for a more charismatic, but less talented QB. Just b/c he arrived for his first day on campus in a limo is no reason for the hatred thrown his way. I hope Chris does well while Vince heals.

VY is acting like a child, that's why Titan's fans in Tennessee are booing him.

Well it seems to me that they both have interception problems. I would rather have Young though. I think he can handle the pressure in a game better than Simms. Hopefully VY will get his stuff together and improve. He has shown much improvement under Dinger's system. I can't for the life of me understand why Titans fans have started throwing him under the bus. He might have been better off in Houston. Titans fans in Tennessee are aweful.

Chris Simms has nothing to be ashamed of, and I hope he gets the chance to play with the Titans.
Mack Brown chose to take out Major Applewhite in favor of Chris Simms, Chris did not make that decision. It still puzzles me that anyone would harbor ill will for a quarterback who was one of the best in the league when he played at Texas. If anyone deserves grief for the Applewhite/Simms debacle, it is Mack Brown.

One of the happiest days of my Longhorn life was when Chris Simms left Austin for good. Hurry back VY.

Oh no, another reason for KEYE to put the Titans on if Houston's game is on Fox.
