Hailing from the Ozarks, Addie Broyles expanded her cooking (and eating) skills on the West Coast and Spain before settling in Austin, mainly for the aguas frescas at the taco stand down the street from her house where she, husband Ian, son Julian and blue heeler Shiva call home.
Relishing food is about taking time to enjoy what has become the often hurried and mundane task of nourishing our bodies. Relish Austin is Addie's search for things that make her go "mmmm." High brow, low brow. Fast food, slow food. In Central Texas. On the Web. On the streets. In your kids' lunch box. In your refrigerator and on your dinner table.

We blazed through the University of Texas campus in recent weeks, and, with your help, found some of the best places to fuel this semester’s academic — and social — activities.
Which of your favorite near-campus eateries did we leave out?

Hmm… I’m kind of glad you omitted Sao Paulo because I don’t want it to get over run…
(but you’d be hard pressed to find a better lemonade in town).

Here are my additions- Spiderhouse for great coffee and other beverages; Salvation Pizza for what else but pizza; Amy’s Ice Cream for the best ice cream in the world; JP’s Java for late night coffee; Veggie Heaven for a meal that would turn anyone vegan; Posse East for cheap beer and great times; Taco Shack for breakfast tacos; Sao Paulo for great Brazilian food on the moderate price; Ken’s Donuts for late donuts; Kerbey Lane for hangover food after 6th Street.

Player’s on MLK at Whitis — cold brewskies and fab cheeseburgers just steps away from campus.

Sao Paulo?! How did I miss this place? Sounds like I’ve got to make at least one more eating trek to campus.
I do love Spiderhouse. In fact, now that I think about it, I should have listed it as one of the best places to pretend to study…
I actually ate at Player’s in doing my research, but didn’t love the food as much as Dirty’s. Great prices and good gathering place for a pint, though.
