Hailing from the Ozarks, Addie Broyles expanded her cooking (and eating) skills on the West Coast and Spain before settling in Austin, mainly for the aguas frescas at the taco stand down the street from her house where she, her fiance, Ian, their toddler, Julian, and their blue heeler, Shiva, call home.
Relishing food is about taking time to enjoy what has become the often hurried and mundane task of nourishing our bodies. Relish Austin is Addie's search for things that make her go "mmmm." High brow, low brow. Fast food, slow food. In Central Texas. On the Web. On the streets. In your kids' lunch box. In your refrigerator and on your dinner table.

If you’re a recipe maker, now is the time to get crackin’ on some new delicious dishes. Not only is
Z’Tejas collecting recipes for its Chili Bash menu in September, now the Driskill Hotel is looking for a pie recipe to feature on the 1886 Café & Bakery menu next year.
Judges will pick the best pie at the “A Taste of The Driskill” festivities on August 30, and the winner will receive a $500 gift certificate from The Driskill Hotel and monogrammed 1886 Café & Bakery chef’s apron.
The contest is open to any non-food professional, who is 18 years or older. Culinary students are encouraged to enter.
The deadline for entries is August 15. The application form and guidelines are available at www.driskillhotel.com.
Send me an e-mail or @broylesa me on Twitter if you submit a recipe!

I went to the Driskill link and it’s their homepage. No sign of an application or contest.

Hey, Paul! On the Driskill site, click on the box that looks like the box in my post. It will take you to a PDF application with instructions.
Good luck if you enter!

Their rules say that your winning recipe becomes the “sole property of the Driskill.” So for a buy-out of $500 and a cheap mag spread, they potentially make a million off of participants’ inititive and investment. Post this please.
