Run, row, race a BMX bike, wear a costume or nab a bounty … it’s your weekend fitness Lineup, Austin!
Boo Run 2011 — The Boo Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 at San Gabriel Park in Georgetown. Costumes are encouraged. Registration begins at 3 p.m. The 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by the 5K at 5 p.m. For more information or to register, go here.
Fitness Feria — Dozens of sports and fitness activities will be demonstrated for parents and youth at the Fitness Feria from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Toney Burger Center, 3200 Jones Road. The program is designed to help Austin’s growing Hispanic community get active in everything from golf and running to camping, volleyball, cycling and more. For more information go here.
Red Bull Most Wanted — Austin’s top BMX riders will navigate up alleys, down rails and over obstacles around Austin in search of “most wanted” BMX tricks during the Red Bull Most Wanted from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Riders meet at Empire BMX, 6310 Lamar Blvd., where 60 bounties (specific BMX tricks to be performed at specific locations) will be offered. The contest finishes at the Ninth Street Trails, 900 W. Pumpkinhead Regatta — Austin Rowing Club hosts the 27th annual Head of the Colorado Regatta “Pumpkinhead” from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 on Lady Bird Lake. More than 1,000 athletes from six states will compete in the all-day 5,000-meter rowing event. Kayak and stand up paddle events are part of the lineup. To see the schedule or check results go here.
Teravista 5K Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run — The Teravista Residents Club, 4211 Teravista Club Drive in Round Rock, will host this 5K Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run. Race starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Participants are encouraged to dress in costume. Registration is $30 for the 5K and $12 for the Kids Fun Run. Proceeds benefit Shoes For Austin. For more information go here.
Run for the Water — This 10-mile race through West Austin at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 benefits The Gazelle Foundation, an Austin non-profit founded by running coach Gilbert Tuhabonye to develop clean water projects in his native Burundi. For the first time, the race will include a barefoot division. Prize money will be awarded in the open and masters divisions. A 5K and Kids 1K are also part of the event. The 10-miler is the second race in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge, a series of five races that culminates with the LiveStrong Austin Marathon in February 2012. BMX Race — Heart of Texas BMX, 12250 N. Highway 183 in Florence, will host its annual Halloween Double Points Race on Sunday, Oct. 30. Besides BMX races, the event will include a mountain bike race, pit bike race, underwear relay, costume contest and trunk-or-treat. For more information go here.
