Free wellness fair Thursday at El Centro de Familia
Need a basic health screening?
For the first time this year, Southwest Key Programs, which has moved its headquarters to East Austin, is opening up its employee wellness fair to the community.
That means the public can drop by for vision, blood pressure and glucose screenings, plus pick up information about local fitness clubs and insurance and benefits companies.
All that sounds good and healthy, but I’m particularly excited about seeing the Southwest Key’s new El Centro de Familia building, which has a slide connecting the third to the second floor. How cool is that?
Southwest Key Programs is a national non-profit that operates education programs for children in the juvenile justice system, safe shelters for immigrant children, job training opportunities, cultural arts programs and community building. For more information go here.
The wellness fair is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 at the company’s Centro de Familia headquarters at 6002 Jain Lane.
Representatives of H.E.B., Live Tobacco Free Austin, the American Diabetes Association, Texas Medclinic, Austin Family Dentist, Seton Diabetes Education Center and Wal-Mart will be on hand.
