Cool upcoming fitness events
Check out these cool upcoming fitness events:
Climb a Rock: Hang out with park rangers, wildlife biologists and game wardens at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. Activities include flint knapping, fossil hunting, Dutch oven cooking, soap making and identifying animal tracks, skulls and furs. Fly fishing demonstrations at 10:30 and 2 p.m., cave tour at 11 a.m. and butterfly release at 2 p.m. Park entry fee of $6 for adults applies, but activities are free. The park is located 18 miles north of Fredericksburg on Ranch Road 965. For more information, call (830) 685-3636.
Wag Your Tail: Choose from cycling routes of 10 to 66 miles at the Waggin’ Trail Bike Ride in Hillsboro, north of Austin. Proceeds benefit Hill County Paw Pals. Ride starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Antique Village, 126 W. Elm St. in Hillsboro. Entry is $30 per person ($15 per child under 12) at www.waggintrailbikeride.com. Ride a Bike: Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club has loaner bikes and helmets and invites children 10 to 16 years old to try mountain biking from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, Oct. 2 at Walnut Creek Metro Park, 12134 N. Lamar. Look for the Austin Ridge Riders banner in the pool parking lot. Volunteers will be on hand. Kids are also encouraged to bring their own wide-tire bikes and helmets for longer riding times. Drinks and snacks and giveaways. Event will be cancelled if it is raining. For more information go here.
Pick Up Your Feet: The Second Annual Pick Up Your Feet for Parkinsons 5K and Fun Run begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at Williamson County Park, 3005 County Road 175 in Leander. Sweat it Out: Physique 57 instructor Kimberly Denkhaus leads free fitness classes at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 at Dharma Yoga, 3110 Guadalupe St. Attendees will receive a sample size of Bioré® Makeup Removing Towelettes and a coupon toward a future purchase. Sign up here.
Get Your Rear in Gear: The Get Your Rear in Gear 5K timed run and walk benefiting the Colon Cancer Coalition starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. To register go here.
Cycle Like an Outlaw Trail 100 Cycling Tour: Cyclists can choose from routes of 10, 25, 40, 50, 63 or 100 miles in the fully supported Outlaw Trail 100 Cycling Tour in Round Rock. The event begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at Old Settlers Park near the Dell Diamond. Registration is $35 until Oct. 7 and $40 thereafter. For more information go here
