Help clean Lady Bird Lake today

I snapped the above photo while pedaling in to work this morning. City crews were mucking debris out of Shoal Creek, just as it enters Lady Bird Lake.
If you’ve seen the lake lately, you know it’s still clogged with branches, trash and related crud that got washed there after the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine blew through last week.
Today you can help clean up the mess.
The Hill Country Conservancy’s young professionals group, EPIC, is teaming up with The Expedition School and Keep Austin Beautiful for a lake cleanup today.
Meet at The Camacho Recreation Center, 34 Robert T. Martinez Jr. St., between 4:30 and 7 p.m. Bring closed-toed shoes and a long sleeve shirt. Water and bug spray will be provided.
Volunteers can sign up here.
Afterward, Iron Gate, Guero’s Taco Bar and Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka will provide tacos, drinks and live music. Festivities start at about 7:15 p.m. at Iron Gate, 1111 East 6th St.
