Win free cycling book

I love riding my bike every day.
Sure, it’s sometimes tough pedaling home when it’s 105 degrees outside, but most days I look forward to the commute.
In the last year, cycling has gone from something I do on weekends for fun and exercise to a way of life. It’s my mode of transportation.
I don’t get stuck in traffic, I hardly ever have to put gas in my car (twice since April!) and I get a little exercise without even trying.
Lots of other folks feel the same way I do about bikes.
A copy of a collection of essays about cycling just landed on my desk.
Would you like to win it? Post here, telling me why you deserve my copy of “Cycling — Philosophy for Everyone: A Philosophical Tour de Force.”
Best answer wins. And I like humor.

There we go, I can comment now!
This book looks awesome! I want to become a bike commuter (especially as I train for the 90 mile LiveStrong Challenge in October), but I’m no morning person! This book may just get me off my lazy butt and get me on my bike every morning!
I promise to commute at least three days next week if I win the book!

I’m fat and slow. But, it don’t matter none. I love to ride, race, meet people, have interesting experiences, gather memories, teach others, talk about cycling, and, of course, READ about people and their lives intertwined with velos (and other stuff too)!
I don’t know if I deserve the book. It sounds interesting and I believe I would enjoy reading it and having it on my shelf to look at again or share with others. If you pass it along to me, I’d be happy to pass it along to Brian after I read it, assuming that there’s a reasonable way to facilitate that.

I’m not sure whether I deserve the book. It sounds interesting and I believe that I would enjoy reading it, having it on my shelf and sharing it with others. In fact, if you send it to me, I’d be happy to send it along to Brian or anyone else after I finish reading it, assuming this can be facilitated easily enough.

I started cycling again seriously last year, at first to lose weight, but now I think I’m going to try racing when I turn 50 next year. I’m also thinking about commuting the 10 miles each way most days.
I’ve done 3 centuries this year already and am looking at adding a few more. I promise to read the book and pass it along to the next person who would like to read it. Maybe we can start a chain to see how many we can get to read the book. Who knows, you may even get it back.
In the mean time, if you ever see a big dude on a black or red bike with an alien on his bright yellow jersey, be sure to say hi.

I don’t want this book. I don’t believe cyclists have any personality worth knowing. They all seem like a monotonous drone click that dresses strange, shave their legs and have lost too many brain cells baking out in the sun.

My dream is that one day every business in Austin has a shower and dressing area so that you can ride to work and clean up afterwards. Hard not to sweat in this Texas weather….. My best ideas and most inspirational moments come in that quiet mind when I am on my bike.

My dream is that my job would provide us with a bike rack so I don’t have to store my bike during the day in a 4x4 janitors closet. Talk about jam packed! I have no excuses for not riding my bike for the 1 mile trek to work. Maybe this book will inspire me!

After having a heart attack at age 50 a year ago, I have begun to exercise for the first time in my life. I’m still searching for something that will get me excited about taking care of my cardio needs. My husband is an avid road biker and would love nothing more than for me to join him in his new-found passion, and I’d love nothing more than to share it with him. The sites he gets to see and the feeling of well-being he gets from riding are something I long to experience.

Only thing cooler and better for you than riding Metrorails new commuter rail is getting out on your bike and commuting! Yes, I know you can combine them and maintain your coolness, but I bet with just bikes (we do not need a cool swiss train car) we can pull more people off the road and shed more pounds. Also, we can get people to see us and fellow commuters. We can use bikes to move our stuff from apartment to apartment and do our shopping. Also, its easier talking to a person riding next to you on a bike. try talking to someone driving next to you in a car the next time you drive. Sleep? Did I mention how much better I sleep after a decent bike ride? Carbon emissions? None when I am on my bike, but the sunshine and wind feel great!

I’m from Toledo, OH the new sister city to Austin, TX. pretty funny so far huh?
I’m one of a few guys planning a reunion trip scheduled for Austin in the Spring of 2011. We all (20 guys from a Midwest high school) meet three years ago in Las Vegas, NV and I planned a bicycle outing for a bunch of us.
I think you are the right person to help me get the scoop on Cycling in Austin. Yes I know this stopped bing funny and now sounds like work.
Regarless if I win the book I need to know where to find a nice road route for a gang of almost 60 year olds that are capable of doing 20, 30, and 40 miles.
Can we start a dialogue? I need details on bike retals and a quality fun scineic route (Maybe Catering too for lunch) but we can’t take the time to drive 1.5hr to the Hill Country.
Thanks for your consideration on the book and on helping me get oriented on Austin TX Cycling.

PS: Riding a bike is my favorite form of exercise, the freest form of mechnical locomotion. Every hill you climb has a pay-off on the other side on on your way back home.
Its rarely too hot to feel the breeze from your bike, even in Austin Texas.
