Vancouver separated bike lane
Check out this video from Vancouver, where they’ve installed a separated bike lane.
Do you think a separated bike lane would work in Austin? Why or why not?
Where should it be?

Yes! I think Austin NEEDS this ASAP! Where should it go? Anywhere downtown would be extremely helpful. On Lamar, Congress, etc. Just do it!!

Austin used to have a 2-way separated bike lane on the east side of Guadalupe street from 21st to 24th street. It worked very well despite its short length. The interface problems that currently exist with bus stops and unloading passenger cars with the northbound lanes on that same stretch of road were much less problematic then.
As for where to put them now: Guadalupe has the space already all the way from 24th street to Cesar Chavez, and needs a fix. I’m not sure of any other stretch in central Austin that is truly viable, though I believe many places need solutions such as this.
