Light up your bike!

Bike Glow Side.jpg

What do you think?

Does this bike light have value as a safety mechanism to make you more visible on your commute home or is it better off as decor for the next night-time bike parade?

The Bike Glow Safety Light is a 10-foot flexible tube that wraps around the frame of your bike.

The lights can be set for constant illumination, slow flashing or fast flashing modes. The system is powered by two AA batteries in a small pack that also attaches to the bike.

It comes in eight colors and sells for $24.95 at www.bikeglow.com.

I can’t decide if I like it or if it’s just plain goofy.

You can never have too much light on when riding at night. I think its a great idea, and cool looking too, in a goofy kind of way. Riding a bike is supposed to be fun, I think this makes it a little more fun.

I agree with Chris H. It’s goofy in a fun way and additional lights never hurt. Great idea!!!

Agree with Chris, albeit it’s a bit goofy for my cycling tastes (and I don’t ride at night), however it adds quite a bit of light both in the rear and side planes - areas that some cyclists don’t cover as well as they should (I recall some guy on a bike at the Research/360 interchange at night - one small red rear light not on his bike, but up on his bag - could barely see it).

You’re definitely right, Pamela— it looks real goofy. My question is if the Bike Glow Safety Light meets required safety standards (by itself) when riding at night…

Will, law requires a white headlight in front and a blinkie light in back. I don’t think this qualifies as either, but it sure looks noticeable. Pam
