Your A-List fave: RunTex
Running junkies swayed the vote in this week’s A-List poll, picking RunTex, with 30 percent of the vote, as the city’s best shoe store.
Yep, Austin’s favorite spot to bag a pair of Brooks, nab the latest Nike, or mix it up with a Mizuno beat out mule-and-stiletto headquarters like Fetish and Strut and Adelante. Won’t our podiatrists be proud?
RunTex’s owner, Paul Carrozza, is known far and wide as the city’s fitness guru. So when you pick out the shoes you’ll be wearing for your next 5K, you might also get some advice on how to stick to an exercise program or eat more healthfully.
Store staffers will take a long hard look at your stride in whatever shoe you’re considering, and kindly request that you run around the shop before making a purchase. They’ll also give you $10 off a new pair of sneaks if you turn in your old pair.
RunTex is also packet pickup headquarters for dozens of area foot races and triathlons. And it’s home base for several training programs.
Simply put, RunTex gives your feet their full, undivided attention.
