New, New Twitter: nothing much to panic about
If you’re using the mobile, desktop or web versions of Twitter (as opposed to, say, TweetDeck or Echofon), first of all, DO NOT PANIC!
Yes, things have changed. Yes, it’s a new design and there are weird new symbols and words for things we used to call “mentions,” for example.
But rather than the kind of redesign Facebook regularly pulls, where things seem to get more convoluted and options get buried deeper into an endless labyrinth, Twitter’s redesign is actually meant to make it easier, friendly and more inviting to newbies who don’t know a Retweet from a hashtag.
While there are some quirks (one Twitter friend bemoans that all the information boxes have moved to the left of the screen on Twitter’s home screen), this might actually be one of the better rethinks of Twitter, far more intuitive than the last, jarring “New Twitter” update that took months to get used to. Nick Bilton of the New York Times makes a nice point; he says it’s like Twitter for his sister (who has been resistant to using the service).
If you’re still anxious, you can check out some helpful guides, including this exhaustive one from Mashable.
Of course, there are some complaints. Some are completely unhappy about the new Twitter for iPhone app and others are complaining that new rules about how many times you can Tweet in a day (hint: if you’re posting 1,000+ updates a day, you probably need to slow down.
Have you checked it out? What do you think? Post in the comments.

However, I had already dropped the old Twitter as being totally useless.
