The Linkdown for Tuesday, Sept. 13

The Linkdown is enjoying these cooler temperatures (yes, 99 degrees is the new “cooler”) and catching up after a week of vacation. Thew Linkdown thought he made it clear that nobody was supposed to make news while he was gone. Ah well.

- Social Media Club monthly meeting at ACL Live is tonight (Tuesday), focused on The Wisdom of Crowds.
- Also tonight, CapMac User Group is awarding Drobos to local organizations at its regular meeting.
- IT Expo West in Austin is ongoing through Thursday.
- Geekaustin has a Beginning PHP class coming up.
- The next BASHH meet-up is on Thursday.
- Mobile Monday happens on Monday. Surprise!
- Door 64 Tech Fair happens Sept. 26.
- Tickets are almost sold out for Oct. 1 BlogathonATX event.

- Gowalla is retooling to make itself more of a city guide.
- What’cha doing? Oh, just growing TONS AND TONS OF ALGAE, y’all.
- Whole Foods/LivingSocial deal today sets a record.
- Google just rolled out a tool for searching flights (at google.com/flights).
- Slacker Radio has a channel featuring Austin City Limits Fest acts.
- PlayStation Move peripherals are selling so well that they’re being marked down 50 percent and some of the games are selling for $10.
- The Nintendo 3DS is getting some pretty big games this holiday season as well as another analog pad and the ability to record 3-D video.
- The Webby Awards are looking for nominations. Deadline is Oct. 28.
- A reboot of the beloved PC video game “Syndicate” is on the way.
- Spotify + Pandora = Echofi.
- Bad EA Sports news — the new “Tiger Woods” game for PC has been so problematic the company is offering refunds.
- Starting today, “City of Heroes” fans can be part of the VIP Headstart program to get early access to “City of Heroes Freedom.”
- Custom mobile website for the upcoming Health Alliance for Austin Musicians benefit (HAMM).
- “Stitcher” app has launched university lectures from some top colleges.
- A 4-terrabyte hard drive!? That almost seems excessive.
