- Austin comedy podcast “Totally Hungover” is doing a live recording Saturday at the Violet Crown Social Club.
- CapMac is holding an iPhone/iPad meetup Thursday night and an iPhone Photowalk Friday night.
- Game Over Videogames Classic Game Fest, a month of retro game events, continues.
Internet goodness:
- Big day for Apple: OS X Lion is released, new MacBook Air and Mac Mini computers are released and the white MacBook is apparently put out to pasture (at least for now).
- But watch out for fake Apple retail stores in China!
- Roku’s got a new set of streaming media boxes and a secret weapon: “Angry Birds.”
- Sad news: Google Labs is being mothballed.
- Amazon Prime Instant Video scores CBS TV shows including some classic TV like “Star Trek.”
- Fun contest: MiMedia is looking for photos of hard drive disasters.
- Austin’s Kerlmax has a Mac OS screengrab tool called Sharpshooter.
- Springbox, which has offices in Austin, has an tool for developers called “Mobilizer” to see what their apps will look like on different mobile devices.
- Indie Open House is looking for your indie game creations. The deadline is in August.
- Google+ app has been released for iPhone/iOS.
- Speaking of Google, they’ve been helping small Austin business set up websites this week.
- Polyphonic Spree are featured in a choose-your-own-adventure app.
- Governor Perry touts jobs being created by EA Sports in Austin.
- Meanwhile, UTV True Games has had layoffs here.
- Jerry Seinfeld joins Twitter. He seems to still be finding his Twitter sea legs.
- Microsoft is expanding its roster of retail stores — looks like Austin and San Antonio are on the map for upcoming locations.
