The Linkdown for Wednesday, March 24
The Linkdown has finally recovered from SXSW Interactive ‘10, but keeps having flashbacks to that boring keynote with Twitter’s CEO. Oh, the horror. The horror…
- Austin Twestival is Thursday night at Molotov, benefitting Concern Worldwide.
- Internet radio station WOXY, which moved from Cincinnati to Austin last year, has gone off the air due to financial pressure.
- The Big Gig Austin movement continues to grow in an effort to catch Google’s attention for the company’s Gigabit Internet initiative. Last night, there was a party at The Highball. Friday is the deadline to nominate Austin.
- Austin-produced free iPhone/iPod daily quiz show QRANK has launched. You can find it here. The official site is here.
- The Skype for Android and BlackBerry apps that run on some Verizon phones are scheduled to be out tomorrow.
- If you want to test drive Time Warner’s Mobile 4G service, bring your laptop to Austin Java at 12th and Lamar on Friday between 10 a.m. and noon. Representatives will be there to answer questions and give demos.
- Speaking of 4G, Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G phone is due out this summer. No price or release date yet, but I imagine 4G will be more expensive than 3G service. I mean, it’s a WHOLE OTHER G!
- Fisher-Price has rolled out a Facebook app aimed at moms.
- Want to play an online, multiplayer version of “Missile Command” for free? Well, here you go.
- My NPR All Tech Considered wrap-up of SXSW Interactive [audio here] (and for the American-Statesman).
- Reschedule meetings in Google Calendar.
- iPad is here sooner than you think: April 3rd for the WiFi version (late April for the 3G version, we’re hearing.) We’ll be all over it, of course.
