American Craft Beer Week UPDATED
While many of us celebrate local and national craft brews on a daily basis, NOW is your official excuse to further support craft beer.
May 16-22 is American Craft Beer Week. According to CraftBeer.com, “for the first time in its six year history, American Craft Beer Week will see official events hosted in all 50 states, making it the largest-ever celebration of U.S. craft brewers.” Here’s a beautiful video from the Brewer’s Association featuring some experts in the national craft beer scene, to get you properly excited:
The Hill Country will be alive with beer celebrations as well. Here are some ways to celebrate locally:
Austin Beerworks will have a sneak preview of their beers at the Draught House. See the facebook event for more details.
Fredericksburg Brewery will host live music, feature food specials and give a brewery tour over the weekend.
Independence Brewery is celebrating in true Austin style with live music to accompany your pint on Saturday the 21st.
Jester King Brewery’s tasting room opened on Saturday May 14th, and will be open for tastings and tours from 1-4 p.m. on subsequent Saturdays.
The Ginger Man downtown will be tapping a special, limited-release American craft brew each day from Monday through Sunday at 7 p.m.
If you’re in the mood for a road trip, San Antonio’s Craft Beer Week is the 15-22nd. Ranger Creek, Freetail Brewing, Faust Brewing Company, Blue Star Brewing Company and The Dodging Duck Brewhaus will participate with various tastings, tours and parties. Check out the schedule for specifics.

Wednesday, May 18th
Glass available with purchase of Southern Star Walloon, Pro-Am Smoked Porter, Bombshell Blond or Creme Brulee Buried Hatchet. ALSO, tapping of Maui Imperial CoCoNut PorTer, made with cocoa nibs.
Thursday, May 19th
Ommegang glass free with purchase of Gnomegang or Rare Vos. Free cheese sample with Rare Vos. The brewery rep. will also be sampling Hennepin.
Friday, May 20th
Left Hand Brewing Co. will debut Sawtooth Nitro to Texas + get a free glass withSawtooth, Milk Stout or TNT Weizenbock, Free cheese sample with Sawtooth and the brewery rep. will be sampling Stranger Pale Ale. For Firkin Friday we will tap a cask of Jester King Black Metal.
Saturday, May 21st
Austin Beerworks first tapping. The brewery boys will have their first beer to sell and be here to answer questions about their wares.
