Free ‘Deep in the Heart’ screening at Paramount with Jon Gries, D.B. Sweeney, John Voight, Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter and more

The Paramount Theatre tonight hosts a special sneak preview of locally-shot feature “Deep in the Heart.” Jon Gries (Uncle Rico from “Napoleon Dynamite”) portrays Texas businessman and philanthropist Richard Wallrath in the redemptive true-life tale from director Chris Cain. Wallrath’s drinking and boorish behavior divided his family and threatened to ruin his life before he found fait and a road to recovery and salvation.

Cain will be in attendance at tonight’s screening with producers Jay and Brian Hoffman, along with stars Gries, D.B. Sweeney and Elaine Hendrix. Also in attendance will be the film’s musical supervisor, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter of Doobie Brothers fame, and Jon Voight, whose son

“Deep in the Heart” made its world premiere at the Austin Film Festival last fall and opens in theaters around the state on Friday.
