Most ridiculous award goes to Zellner brothers
Prior to the midnight screening of Australian horror flick “Primal,” Austinites Nathan and David Zellner screened their short, “Sasquatch Birth Journal 2.” David said the piece was “the result of six months of tracking a pregnant female sasquatch.”
True to the Patterson-Gimlin footage of the 60s, the Zellner’s film was fuzzy and of low quality. Unlike the original, however, the comedy was completely intentional. In the Zellner’s movie, the sasquatch awkwardly attempts to sustain her balance in a tree, while slowly, indelicately and hilariously extracting her baby. We won’t give away the end, but the film is likely to be studied for decades, like the Patterson-Gimlin film before it.
There’s no word on what inspired this groundbreaking piece of cinematic zoology, but if we track down the Zellners in the wild, we will report back to you here.
“Sasquatch Birth Journal 2” screens again on Monday night before the 7:10 screening of “Primal.”
