David and Nathan Zellner to engage in some brotherly shove

If you’re not familiar with the event, it breaks down like this: Two folks (press, filmmakers or film professionals of some stripe) spend 12 minutes arguing one topic. Each person gets three minutes to debate, then is rebutted for three minutes by his opponent, then they do it again. Following the verbal debate, things get physical, as the opponents go toe-to-toe in the ring and box two one-minute rounds.
I’m told the Zellners (“Goliath”) are going to be settling a long-running feud. Nathan will be defending the value of video games and the time people spend playing them online, while David will take the stance that the entire enterprise is a complete waste of time. There may be blood. For those not familiar with the brothers, Nathan is the big one on the left in the photo above.
- Read Chris Garcia’s story from January about the Zellner brothers trip to Sundance and their trio of shorts entitled “Fiddlestixx” that centers on a gibbon.
Oh, and in case you hadn’t heard, Fantastic co-founder and Alamo head honcho Tim League will debate with actress Michelle Rodriguez on the merits of “Avatar” as an Academy Award Best Picture-worthy film. The slight League will then enter the square ring with the “Machete” star who happens to be a trained boxer. (Maybe you’ve seen “Girlfight”?)
This is what League has to look forward to …
