Big bash for all things Austin film
10 years? That was fast. And fun.
Austin Studios, the soundstage playland and film production facility for projects around the world, turns 10 this year, and it’s throwing a party at 6:30 p.m. June 18 on the grounds (1901 E. 51st St.).
That’s not all. Richard Linklater, Mike Judge, Robert Rodriguez and Elizabeth Avellan are hosting the event, which includes a celebration of Moody Anderson and the release of Alison Macor’s definitive tome “Chainsaws, Slackers and Spy Kids: 30 Years of Filmmaking in Austin.” Expect networking galore, too.
Who’s Moody?
For decades, Moody has furnished props from his unique and enormous warehouse of western notions, large and small, helping to shape the look of close to 100 film projects, and making lifelong friends in the process.
Free for Austin Film Society members, film crew and neighbors. $10 general.
