Report: Sandra Bullock divorce papers filed in Travis County

sandy.JPG

Sandra Bullock, the Oscar-winning actress who often stakes out Austin as her hometown, has filed for divorce from television personality Jesse James in Travis County.

The simple petition for divorce, as identified by TMZ.com, and entered April 23 under scrambled initials for the two parties, was not unexpected. In early March, soon after Bullock, 45, won the Academy Award for Best Actress for “The Blind Side,” at least four women came forward saying they had affairs with James.

The surprise, reported by People magazine, is the existence of an adoption in process. Bullock and James, 41, had planned to adopt Louis, a three-month old baby from New Orleans. Bullock now plans to complete the adoption as a single parent, according to People.

“He’s just perfect, I can’t even describe him any other way,” she told People. “It’s like he’s always been a part of our lives.”

In the petition, Bullock does not contest custody of James’ three children by previous marriages.

The couple was married in 2005, but, according to the petition, “have ceased to live together as husband and wife.” The document, filed by Bullock’s Houston-based lawyer, Walter Becker, also states that the marriage: “has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectations of reconciliation.”

No protective order has been filed and the division of property, according to the petition, will focus on community ownership. Bullock, who holds property in several states and is perhaps Hollywood’s most bankable female star, also owns several Austin businesses, including Bess Bistro on Pecan and Walton’s Fancy and Staple.

The petition says she has lived in Texas for at least the previous six months and has been a resident of Travis County for at least 90 days. During much of that time, Bullock remained behind the walls of her Hollywood Hills residence, dodging a battery of paparazzi.

Adding a twist of mystery to the case, the suit of divorce was filed under the initials “B.A.S,” with the respondent listed as “J.J.G.” As soon as TMZ.com broke the story of the divorce petition, reporters from around the country peppered Austinites with questions about Bullock’s life here. If the divorce is not amicable, any Austin trial could turn into an international media circus.

A voicemail message left with Bullock’s attorney, Becker, has not been returned.

Sandra, I was married to a man who also couldn’t keep it in his pants. I finally realized it was his insecurities that made him need other women to find him sexually attractive and that it had nothing to do with me. So I made a list of things I wanted in my next husband and vowed I’d never marry again until I found that person. I found a wonderful man who would never cheat and we’ve been married 14 years. My ex? He married the last woman he cheated on me with and is now cheating on her! You will survive this devastating time and learn from it. I wish you the best of luck with your adorable new son and hope to see pictures of the two of you in Austin.

Shae, I really don’t think she needs your help in raising her own kid. Really, what were you thinking?

The link on the main page refers to Austin as her “hometown.” I’m not sure that’s accurate.

I mean, I love Sandra as much as anyone. Speed II is my favorite movie, followed in close second by Ms. Congeniality.

But unless she was born here, she can’t call Austin her hometown. Having a lakehouse for the last 5 years doesn’t count.

I am so over both of these “celebs.” These people are jerks. I am supposed to care about their futile attempts at acting human why? My family and neighbors rate. These media dorks don’t.. Sandra bought a baby? Big deal. It’s not like she’s actually going to be a parent or anything. More like she adopted a pet. These people are revolting.

That is what Sandra gets for marrying a Republican. I love Sandra but felt sad the day she went for a guy like that. He is basically a bottom for Rick Santorum or a top for Rick Perry.

Sandra needs to do a movie about Emily Dickenson, the only white survivor of the Alamo. Want to talk about a STRONG woman! And her house is here in Austin.

Smart woman, getting married in Texas so there is no alimony ;). Now just come live here for good with baby Louis.

P.S. To the second Mary who posted… quit defining your world by people’s skin color and you’ll lead a happier life.

Now that the whole world knows all about Sandra Bullock, the divorce, the adoption, can we just leave her and Jesse alone? Do we really need to know all this? There is too much information out there and it is 24/7 news somewhere.

All the tatted-up girls in Austin need to pay attention: the tattooed ho in this relationship is still taking off her clothes for a living, while the pure as the driven snow Sandra is getting the cover of People, the $25 million paychecks, only the cutest babies …

Celebrity aside, can Bullock prove she’s been a resident of Texas for 6 months and of Travis County for the last 90 days? Texas law has those requirements so we don’t become the world’s divorce mill. The court doesn’t have jurisdiction unless they’re met. I guess it’ll go down “no-contest” unless they can’t privately work out the property and the debts.

I was unaware that Sandra and Jessie were married in the State of Texas. Apparently, Texas doesn’t recognize marriages legally obtained in other States and thus refuses to grant divorces. Oh wait, that’s only if the couple is gay. Double standard much? Either we honor the reciprocity of State laws or we don’t. I have a hard time envisioning someone being arrested while driving through Texas because his/her license was issued in Massachusetts.

Having gotten that off my chest, I honestly share all good thoughts sent Sandra’s way. I never understood that match from the beginning.

I admire and respect Sandy and the way she has handled the situation with Jesse. I think it’s wonderful she and Louie found each other. What Jesse did was terrible, but I don’t believe that’s all there is to him. Sandra said herself that he is a good father and indicated they will co-parent this child. Jesse seems to be sincerely sorry and time will tell if he does indeed want to make himself a better man. But whatever the outcome, it is between those two people and the name calling doesn’t help either one. I wish them both the best for themselves and all the children involved.

Sandra is a roll model for all. She seems to stay calm under pressure with everything that she is going thru. She could have slammed that Dirty Legging Fool, Jesse. He is more then likely wishing he would have left those SKANKS alone and he could share in the joy of that precious baby boy. Sandra needs to come home.

Why was I not surprised to find out her adopted baby was black? You gotta love the white Hollywood elite and its fascination with black babies.

She is a strong person who’s decision to be a single parent is super. She will have to find a better character guy next time. She is bankable, funny, and a winner.

He was and always will be a low life predator who enjoys life in the gutter. It is one thing if he wanted to better his life and had a past but totally unacceptable that he cheated on her with low life women WHILE he was married.

He should have never made the impression he was ready to get married. He’s ugly inside and out!!!!

Sandra, forget that loser! It is now his loss and that baby will now have all of your attention. You will be a wonderful mom! I have seen the pictures of you and the baby together and for some reason, despite the obvious, you and the baby BELONG together. It just looks natural! Forget that loser and come home. Austin has always been a good place to raise children. We love you and please know that we will love your son too.
