More titles at SXSW Film

South by Southwest announced new titles that will screen during the festival, starting March 12.

The big announcement: “Four Lions” will be the closing night film, on March 20.

“Four Lions,” directed by Chris Morris, deals with a group of British jihadists who get a bit carried away. It stars Riz Ahmed, Arsher Ali, Nigel Lindsay, Kayvan Novak and Adeel Akhtar. It’s described as a “pitch-black satire.”

New spotlight premieres include “American Grindhouse,” a feature documentary about exploitation film; “Cargo,” a Swiss science fiction thriller; and “Haynesville: The Hunt for an Energy Future,” a documentary about a natural gas discovery.

Also added to the lineup: “A NY Thing,” a romantic tale from Olivier Lecot; “Skateland,” a Texas-themed movie about dramatic events involving a skating rink manager; “Beyond Ipanema,” an homage to Brazilian music; “Strummerville,” a British documentary about the death of Joe Strummer; “This Movie Is Broken,” dealing with a Broken Social Scene show in Toronto; and “When You’re Strange: A Film About the Doors.”

Other feature films include “The Sounds of Insects: Record of a Mummy,” “Waking Sleeping Beauty,” “Tony” and “Suck.”

New narrative shorts are: “I’m Here,” from director Spike Jonze; “Successful Alcoholics” and “Tough Crowd.”

New documentary shorts are: “Robin Hood Gardens” and “Star Wars: Retold.”
