Our top 10 ‘Idol’ faves

As the year comes to a close, it seems everyone’s making a list.

So, of course, we want in on the action.

Without further delay, here’s our list of the top 10 songs from singers with ties to “American Idol”:

10.) “Tattoo,” Jordin Sparks. OK, this one continues to grow on us. Still, though, it barely makes the cut.

9.) “Breakaway,” Kelly Clarkson. The first of Queen Kelly’s four appearances. Deal with it.

8.) “Home,” Chris Daughtry. A smidge over-played, but still deserving of a spot on our list.

7.) “Since U Been Gone,” Kelly Clarkson. That gal in the car next to you … yeah, she’s bobbing her head to this one.

6.) “It’s Not Over,” Chris Daughtry. Who’s Taylor Hicks? Chris was robbed on “Idol,” but he’s having the last laugh now.

5.) “Never Again,” Kelly Clarkson. The first single from Kelly’s latest album is a lot darker than we’re used to … but it’s a keeper nonetheless.

4.) “Before He Cheats,” Carrie Underwood. Try not to pump up the volume when this one comes on. We dare you.

3.) “Invisible,” Clay Aiken. Yes, yes … Clay is scary. But the song is pure gold. There’s just no disputing that.

2.) “Wait for You,” Elliott Yamin. Elliott doesn’t get the attention he deserves. Let’s hope that changes in 2008.

1.) “Miss Independent,” Kelly Clarkson. Kelly is the “American Idol,” hands down.

Yes, we’re well aware some fan favorites are missing from our list — including Jennifer Hudson and Kellie Pickler — but we stand by our picks. Agree? Disagree? Drop us a line.

WOW!! SOMEONE ACTUALLY RECOGNIZES TALENT - LOVE YOUR CHOICES. CLAY IS NOT HARDLY SCARY - THAT COMMENT COULD HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT BUT THANKS FOR HIS SELECTION.

I like all your picks - except I think Behind These Hazel Eyes should replace Miss Independent as #1..

I agree! Elliott certainly does not get the attention he deserves! His voice is exceptional!

Not a bad list. I might swap #1 and #7 though.

spot on about Elliott!! 2008 will be his year. He has got the talent, the presence and the entertainment factor. People need to pick up on this. He deserves more! I think you got it right for the most part. I think I would have put Pickler up there somewhere. Daughtry what an incredible year. Looking forward to something a little different from him next time.

Not a bad list. I would also switched #7 and #1. Since U Been Gone is one of the best pop songs ever written.

Very surprising is that “Tatoo” is growing on me too. Who would have thought?

OK - watch Kellie sing “I Wonder” at the CMA Awards and please change your ratings. That song and her performance bring tears to my eyes every time I hear it - how could she not make you list?

I very much agree with your list. I would switch #2 with #6. I like Elliot very much but Daughtry deserves to be higher on your list. It’s Not Over is just an awesome song. Daughtry is the one with the 3 AMAS and 4 Grammy nominations so yea I think he deserves the number 2 position.

But you truly did select all those Idols who are exceptionally talented.

I agree that Kelly deserves so much appearance on the list, because she is the most successful of all the idols thus far, being very suceptible in all regions of the country…not just CMT, or anything. Also, I am glad that people are recognizing the worthiness of My December, after much put down, people don’t realize that they are believing a pre-concieved notion, and they never gave it a chance…thanks for recognizing the real and true talent of the artists of today that actually CAN sing…surprise surprise! Love the sarcasm by the way, always warm and fuzzy feeling!

Elliott is amazing! His voice, stage presence, personality, and connection to people, make him a true IDOL in every sense of the word.

I’m not sure why the need for the gratuitous Clay Aiken slam, but otherwise a good list.

I just love Elliott’s whole CD but this guy is simply amazing live — he has grown so much from his time on Idol and he just owns the stage. I agree he’s underrated and hope to see him shine next year — he deserves it!

I actually like “Walk Away” by Kelly better than “Never Again” (just my humble opinion)..

Also I love Clay…He is one of the most entertaining performers I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing in concert…His sense of humor is as great as his vocals…I think the best is yet to come from this guy!

Happy Holidays everyone :)

Great choices, but wait until ‘No Air’ from Jordin Sparks comes out. And, I agree about Kellie Pickler. She belongs on the list, too.

I also have to agree with Ray…I forgot about Kellie Pickler’s “I wonder”…That is a beautiful song and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!

Also..I agree with Audrey..Daughtry should be higher on the list than Elliott at this point..

I guess everyone does have their favorites..and the good thing is that we do have some wonderful singers out there.. If you don’t like anyone in particular there are lots more to chose from :)

Great choices. Elliott proved to many that he is a force to be reckoned with. I just love him!

While Elliott is my personal favorite, I just can’t get enough of “Home” by Daughtry. I would put that as #1.

The comment that stuck with me is that Elliott DOES NOT get the attention he deserves. This guy is unique, his tone unlike anyone else. Elliott’s voice is one of a kind. He delivers everytime, with so much soul and feeling he made me a fan immediately. His live performances are filled with great feeling and knocks me out with his improvisation of a song. Switching it up, his adlib styling and great arrangements. This guy is exceptional live. He draws me into the song and that is what I love about Elliott.

I love Clay Aiken. I don’t know why critics, etc. think they have to say something negative every time his name is mentioned, but I’m tired of it. In my opinion he is the most talented idol ever.

it seems Taylor’s actually having the last laugh - seems he’sbeen taking good care of himself, vacationing on the private island of Cayo Espanto, the Island Resort in Belize. This four-acre oasis in Ambergris Cay, where Tiger Woods, Giselle Bundchen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Calista Flockhart, Harrison Ford, Robert De Niro and Taylor Hicks have all recently vacationed, hosts five luxurious villas. All-inclusive food & beverage, swimming, snorkeling and fishing off your own private dock plus a personal “houseman” on-duty 24/7! Yep, he’s laughing all the way to the bank!

I agree, but I would have put Kelly Clarkson’s song, Since You Been Gone. This song is by far the best that has come out. And it is by far the fan favorite. Go Kelly, you are the best.

I agree…I think Since U Been Gone should’ve been at No. 1 & Miss Independent at No. 7. ‘Gone’ performed better than Miss Independent. Surprisingly Behind These Hazel Eyes didn’t make it on the list.

Carrie’s Before He Cheats should’ve been at No. 2 & Daughtry’s It’s Not Over at No. 3.

Kellie Pickler? Well…I don’t think the rest of the world actually care if she’s not on the list… =)

Many of these on the list belong well above Clay Aiken’s Invisible. He is a creepy guy singing an ultra creepy song. I mean, come on… Invisible better than ‘Before He Cheats’???

How come Constantine Maroulis is not in the countdown? You think that it’s because he’s not popular enough? You should put down both ”Everybody Loves”, and ”Girl Like You”on the countdown list. I’m like, what is wrong with you people!!! I just wish that all of you would care about him.Pleeeeeeaaaaaase?

WOW - Where’s Bo Bice on this list - several of his performances were breathtaking?

And by the way, where is all the coverage of Bo post idol?

A genuine talent, unique human being and exciting stage presence! What gives?
