Getting there by pedicab

The only traffic spotted on Barton Springs Road today has been a stream of pedicabs, possibly a response to the overall traffic snarl going on in the central city. Another possibility? This is when the men and women who pedal these three-wheeled beasts are at their peaks.

“It’s Friday and everybody’s pumped. Then tomorrow, everybody’s energy level will be worn down,” said pedicab operator Nathan Vanderford of Austin.

The going rate for a ride from Sixth Street and Congress Avenue is $30.
