The 2006 South by Southwest Film Festival is on its last lap, wrapping up nine days and scores of movies Saturday. That means you have three days to catch some of the best of the fest.

(For ticket information and complete SXSW schedule and coverage, click here.)

"Summercamp!" 11 a.m. Thursday, Paramount Theatre. An utterly charming and absorbing portrait of the kids, counselors, canoeing, flirting, fishing, tears and tantrums at a real summer camp in the woods. By Sarah Price and Bradley Beesley.

"Jumping Off Bridges" 1:30 p.m Thursday, Paramount. Kat Candler's moving Austin-made teen drama has enjoyed sold-out crowds — and raves.

"Slam Planet: War of the Words" Noon Thursday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Alamo South. Slam poets pour their hearts out in competitive verbal skirmishes.

"Neil Young: Heart of Gold" 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Paramount. Jonathan Demme's concert film is all about Young's rockin' music and spirit.

"Maxed Out" 11 a.m. Friday, Paramount. An alarming documentary showing how credit card companies are eating us alive.

"Tales of the Rat Fink" 4:30 p.m. Friday, Paramount. Ron Mann's blazing biography of legendary animator and car artist Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth leaves you breathless.

"Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" 4 p.m. Friday, Alamo South. Heavy metal is defended and demystified with humor, insight, scholarship and love in this superb rock doc.

"51 Birch Street" 11 a.m. Friday, Alamo Downtown. You think you know your mother and father. This chilling doc suggests you might not. At all.

"American Dreamz" 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Paramount. Paul Weitz's stinging satire of our political/celebrity zeitgeist stars Dennis Quaid, Hugh Grant and Willem Defoe. Weitz will be there.

"Jam" 10 p.m. Friday, Paramount. Grizzled roller derby veterans reunite to play in a newly formed league in this humorous, sad and finally unsettling documentary.
